Project completed: Appreciating Legacy critical care workers

Our first Good Works project was based on an idea proposed to the Amberglen general community by Chuck Polacek, our founding member. Inspired by an article in The Columbian (“Critical Care Workers in Clark County”), Chuck made his appeal using the Town Square app: ”Our local Legacy Hospital Emergency Room providers at Salmon Creek need our appreciation and encouragement. We can help steady the resolve of critical care workers by simply causing them smiles and lending encouragement.”

Our community responded enthusiastically with donations that were used to buy pizzas and flowers. At noon on December 3, 2021, delivery was made by the six volunteers shown in the photo above, and a thank you card was presented that was signed by most of the families in Amberglen.

The response from Dana Hughes, a representative of the ER, was gratifying: She and her staff were moved by our expression of appreciation. In turn, we are gratified to know that this simple act on our part may have helped somebody cope with another difficult day on the frontlines of the pandemic.

We offer our special thanks to those who contributed to this project with their time and generous donations:
Dan and Annet Allen, Greg Benezra and Fairy Nguyenloc, Don Covert and John Grant, Ronald and Theresa Edmiston, Carolyn Fox, Melvin and Priscilla Hawkins, Mike Jones, Liam McGill, the Natiola family, Barbara Pierce, Chuck and Charleen Polacek, Ron and Debra Rowe, Mac and Susan Sanvictores, and Barry Smith.
